Poser Productions Presents: As Many Weirdos As Possible
The following description comes from the event organizer.
Poser Productions is thrilled to announce the unveiling of As Many Weirdos As Possible (A.M.W.A.P.), a collaborative photo documentary and storytelling project celebrating the essence of the Pacific Northwest's music scene from 1985 to 1995. Two years in the making, this project represents a labor of love and dedication from a team of talented individuals passionate about preserving the region's rich musical history.
This collaborative effort, led by photographers Rachel Crick, Rosetta Greek, Lance Mercer, Niffer Calderwood, and Chris Pugh, with project management and production by Pamela Houle and a dedicated team of volunteers, merges documentary portrait photography with handwritten anecdotes. The project also serves as a crucial preservation effort, highlighting disappearing historical and cultural landmarks tied to the region's music history.
A gallery run is scheduled from April 4 to May 11, 2024, at Base Camp Studios 2, located at 1901 3rd Ave Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101. This inaugural event will showcase a curated selection of 100 image/story pairs, offering a glimpse into the expansive collection of over 250. Future plans include hosting additional gallery shows, continuing to celebrate the diverse voices that defined the Pacific Northwest's music scene during this decade.
"This project is a tribute to the artists, photographers, journalists, and musicians who defined this era,” said Rachel Crick, Photographer and Founder of Poser Productions. “It’s a love letter to this region.”
Poser Productions has teamed up with Framesmith for framing and the Photographic Center Northwest for printing, guaranteeing the exhibition's top-notch presentation. The project has been awarded a 4 Culture 2023 Art Projects for Groups grant and is fiscally sponsored by Shunpike, underscoring its commitment to excellence and community support.
Donations to support the project and future exhibitions can be made through the Poser Productions page on the Shunpike website at https://shunpike.org/artist/poser-productions/.
