Tito's Taquitos has officially landed in Beaverton. (Tito's Taquitos)
This week, The Mule Bar arrives in Cully, Tito's Taquitos expands to Beaverton, and Portland Mercado's carts reopen. Plus, Insomnia Cookies is coming to Portland, and three Portland food scene veterans are previewing their upcoming restaurant at a brunch pop-up this weekend. For more ideas, check out our food and drink guide.

NEW OPENINGS

The Mule Bar List
Bridgetown Bites reports that this new bar officially debuts in the former Stanich's List space today, and there's good news for Stanich's stans: The predecessor's famous burger will stay on the menu. (No word yet on whether it lives up to the original—you'll have to go and see for yourself.)

Tito's Taquitos Beaverton List
The hand-rolled taquito business opened a new location in the Breakside Brewery Beaverton List cart pod at the end of January.

Yardy Rum Bar List
Eugene's "market-driven, West Indian-inspired" cart recently moved into a brick-and-mortar in the former home of The Vintage, now serving up Caribbean cocktails and jerk chicken alongside its signature pan-fried poultry. I'm particularly interested in the tamarind barbecue fried chicken, smoky criollo pork ribs, duck curry, and the escovitch trout.

FUTURE OPENINGS

Insomnia Cookies List
Soon your nocturnal sugar cravings can be fulfilled by this bakery delivery chain, which is set to open its first Portland location in Richmond soon, according to a press release. An opening date and additional details will be announced in the coming weeks. The business also plans to add a location that will serve Portland State University and surrounding neighborhoods later this year.

CLOSURES

Esperanza List
The Woodstock cafe was unable to renew its lease and subsequently closed last Sunday, writing, "If you are wondering why we are only telling you this now, it is because we were incredibly optimistic that one of our colleagues here in Portland was going to continue with the operations without missing a beat. Unfortunately, despite starting the negotiation process weeks ago, including presenting what we considered to be two incredibly fair and realistic bids, up until yesterday, they had not reached an agreement in terms with the owners." The coffee shop hopes to move to a new location in Woodstock.

St. Beatrix List
The charming bakery announced this week that its physical location has been forced to close suddenly and has requested that customers refrain from inquiring for more details for the time being, writing, "As a new member of the 'closed Portland food spot' club, this is a question that doesn’t have a right answer. In good time, if the words feel right, we’ll share it. It feels wild to be a part of this group but we are in the company of fellow hard-working badasses who have given it a real shot and risked a lot." However, baker Jess Smith plans to continue taking custom cake orders after a short break.

POP-UPS AND EVENTS

The Wild Bunch Past Event List
Choose from over 400 natural wines from more than 60 winemakers at this annual fair founded by Bar Norman owner Dana Frank. Besides vino, the festival also offers food and drink from Sebastiano's, Lupine, Duality Brewing, and Prince Coffee; DJ tunes; and a retail shop with goods from Bar Norman and Vivienne Culinary Books.
The Factor Building, 11 am-4 pm

FRIDAY-SATURDAY

Tết Việt Food Pop-Up Past Event List
Yoonique Tea will team up with the adorable dessert pop-up Butter Coop Bakery to purvey traditional Vietnamese street foods and other delights. The menu includes tré trộn (a salad with fermented pork sausage and cucumbers), trứng cút nướng (grilled quail eggs), bánh mì nướng muối ớt pho mai (cheese toast), bánh bò nướng (an irresistibly spongy honeycomb cake), bánh flan (crème caramel), and more.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3

Jacques Strappe Pizza Party Past Event List
It's time to get sultry and glam, so throw on your false lashes, body glitter, and a sequined halter dress and flirt the night away at this "tutti gay" edition of the monthly queer dance party Jacques Strappe. DJs Barolo Blahnik and Yawning will keep the Italo disco coming, while the rest of the evening promises champagne, fiasco bottles of chianti, lambrusco punchbowls, and grandma-style pizza pies from chef Justin Woodward of OK Omens and Castagna. Sounds like a recipe for a perfect evening to me.
Davenport, 6 pm-12 am

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4

Mémoire Cà Phê Pop-Up Past Event List
Mémoire Cà Phê is kind of the Portland food scene equivalent of Boygenius, except instead of a synergistic supergroup of singer-songwriters, it's a Vietnamese pop-up comprised of Matta chef Richard Le, Portland Cà Phê roaster Kimberly Dam, and Heyday pastry chef Lisa Nguyen—each of them formidable talents on their own, even better when combined. The trio hopes to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant honoring their Vietnamese-American upbringing at a TBD location sometime this spring. If you understandably can't wait until then, your first chance to catch a sneak preview will be this brunch pop-up at Magna Kusina. They promise "sweet and savory bangers" alongside Dam's specialty beverages—what more convincing do you need?
