Alcina
Seattle Opera's first-ever production of the classic Handel opera Alcina follows a glamorous sorceress on a remote island, where she lures in men like some sort of mythical, 18th-century Beyoncé. When a young woman in disguise arrives on the island with a magic ring to free her fiancé from the spell of the enchantress, all hell predictably breaks loose. Conductor Christine Brandes, who once sang the title role, will take the podium for this performance, which stars soprano Vanessa Goikoetxea.
