Joyful connections between composer, performer, and audience; this is 45th Parallel Universe! In a world dominated by digital experiences, we boldly flip the script, injecting a rebellious dose of musical authenticity and genuine human connection that is deeply rooted in our community, our people, and our sense of place. We invite you to be a part of our musical universe this season!

 

Bolling on the River Sunday, September 3, 2023 6:00-7:00 PM @ Ellson Garden, 1234 SE River Forest Lane, Milwaukie OR 97267

Claude Bolling’s Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano became an instant classic upon its release in 1975, spending 10 years on the Billboard top 40 charts. Flutist Martha Long will be joined by pianist Maria Garcia, guest drummer Niel DePonte, and bassist Jeff Johnson for an evening of classical jazz.

Zach Galatis returns with a voice that makes the flowers bloom ;) He’ll be joined by pianist Maria Garcia for this wonderful program of Broadway classics, performed in the beautiful garden of Eve and David Celsi.

Harmonie house bands were often employed in Mozart’s time by aristocratic families to provide music for their social gatherings and special events. Our virtuoso wind players bring that tradition to life for this program of wind sextets!

Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun… the audience chooses the program from a musical tasting menu! Our garden series comes to a close with this performance in the spectacular garden of Jacob’s Garage, designed by Guerrilla Development.

Pillars and Threads The Gemini Project Tuesday, March 5, 2024 7:00-8:00 PM @ Straub Collaborative

We’re thrilled to be returning to Straub Collaborative for March and April’s concerts! We start with two masterpieces for percussion quartet, performed by the Gemini Project virtuosos. Pillars is Andy Akiho’s grammy-nominated tour-de-force, and Threads by Paul Lansky challenges traditional notions of what percussion music can be.

 

Lost in Deep Time Pyxis Quartet Thursday, April 11, 2024 7:00-8:00 PM @ Straub Collaborative

Our season continues at Club Straub in April with the Pyxis Quartet’s performance of Prospects of a Misplaced Year by Andy Akiho, accompanied by artist Brad Johnson’s visionary artwork, a stunning exploration of geologic time told in music and immersive projection.

Boston-based cellist Leo Eguchi presents UNACCOMPANIED, a performance featuring eight short new works for solo cello which explore personal stories of immigration and American identity.

We showcase the works of contemporary composer Damien Geter and 19-century composer Louise Farrenc, highlighting the striking contrasts and commonalities between these two exceptional composers.
